Loddon Highlands groundwater allocations

Goulburn-Murray Water (GMW) has announced the 2017/18 season allocations for the Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area (WSPA) based on the August groundwater readings.

The Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area extends from Newlyn, Learmonth and Waubra in the south to Maryborough and Dunolly in the north.

There are around 170 licensed groundwater users in the Loddon Highlands WSPA.

GMW Manager Groundwater and Streams Matthew Pethybridge said allocations are determined in accordance with the Loddon Highlands Water Supply Protection Area Groundwater Management Plan, which was approved by the Minister for Water in November 2012.

“We will continue to monitor groundwater levels over spring and review allocations in the Newlyn Zone if there is sufficient groundwater level recovery to November 2017.

“Customers will receive a letter notifying them of any increase in allocations,” Mr Pethybridge said.
